Before the Budget is presented, we reach out to people and organizations across the province through pre-Budget Consultations to gather information to help determine public priorities for the Budget.
What is Budget Talks?
Budget Talks is our online pre-Budget consultation tool. It is a public forum for you to submit your ideas and discuss others’.
Through this year’s Budget Talks we are asking citizens to help us solve one of 8 focus areas. We’ll put final ideas to a public vote and, if chosen, spend up to $3 million to bring up to eight projects to life.
Proposals can recommend the Government of Ontario implement a pilot, study, event or digital service to help solve one of these 8 focus areas:
- Fighting climate change through conservation and a low carbon economy
- Helping students achieve their full potential
- Increasing access to child care
- Investing in community infrastructure projects
- Making government services faster and easier to use
- Making health care easier to access
- Strengthening reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples
- Supporting Ontario’s small businesses
The focus areas were chosen as part of our commitment to make everyday life easier for the average citizen and move us one step closer to becoming the most open, transparent, collaborative and digitally innovative government in Canada.
